What is an auto-responder?
An auto-responder is an online program that allows you to collect subscribers who are agreeing to receive emails from you. Your subscribers will receive your auto-mated messages that you have setup. Some of the more common professional auto-responders include GVO / Host Then Profit, Aweber, Getresponse, Response Magic, TrafficWave.

What is a campaign?
Your campaign is your “list”. You’ll need to give your list a name that is relevant to your list, ie. Personal Contacts, Free Report or Newsletter list. Most Auto-responders allow multiple campaigns. May be called ‘campaign’ or ‘list’ – each responder is a little bit different.
Your Optin/Confirmation Email
This is the email your subscriber receives when they subscribe and is a way for you to confirm this is a real person with a real email address. You will personalize your Optin Confirmation email. The only link in this email is the one included by the system!
Here is an example confirmation email for GVO

Your first email
This is a welcome to your subscriber. You will let your subscriber know what to expect in upcoming emails. Your first letter will welcome your subscriber and offer your contact info and the link to any free report or product that you were giving away. I recommend you do NOT sell them anything on the first email. You can direct your readers to your blog

Thank you for subscribing to my personal contact list. As you know, my focus is helping you learn to use the Internet to create leads for your business.
Over the next few days, you will receive a series of emails designed to help youunderstand the importance of branding you and the KLT (know, like and trust) factor!

Broadcast to your list
Currents News and Updates
Newest Blog Post
New programs, tooks, etc.
HINT: Whenever you broadcast a message to your list, copy it and add it to the end of your series. Over time, you will grow a large list of emails for your subscribers.
Creating a Form and Lead Page
Now that your Campaign is ready, you need to create a Form and add the Code to your Website or Create a Lead Capture Page (both are suggested)
